Finding someone reliable for a small job should not be difficult.

Whether it is moving furniture, tidying a section, helping with a one-off task, doing a dump run, assembling something, cleaning up a property, or getting an extra pair of hands for the day, most people still rely on Facebook groups, word of mouth, or asking around.

That works sometimes. But it can also be messy, slow, and unreliable.

That is where Gumboot.app comes in.

Launching on 1 July, Gumboot is a new local job marketplace built for New Zealanders who want a simpler way to get things done.

What is Gumboot?

Gumboot is an app where people can post jobs they need help with, and local workers can apply to do them.

The idea is simple: if you have a task that needs doing, you can post it. If you are looking for work, extra income, or flexible local jobs, you can apply.

It is designed for real-world, practical jobs. The kind of jobs that happen every day across New Zealand but often do not need a full company, a long quote process, or endless back-and-forth messages.

Think:

  • Garden cleanups
  • Furniture moving
  • Rubbish removal
  • Event help
  • Odd jobs
  • Labouring tasks
  • Cleaning
  • Delivery help
  • Small property jobs
  • General local assistance

Gumboot is built around making those jobs easier to organise.

Why Gumboot?

New Zealand has a strong culture of helping out, working hard, and getting stuck in. But the way we organise small jobs has not really kept up.

Posting in a Facebook group can work, but it can also mean dealing with random comments, missed messages, no-shows, and people who are not serious.

Hiring a full business can be the right move for bigger jobs, but for smaller tasks it can be expensive or overkill.

Gumboot sits in the middle.

It gives people a place to post jobs clearly, review interest, choose who they want to work with, and keep everything organised in one place.

For workers, it creates a way to find nearby jobs, earn extra money, and build trust through completed work and reviews.

Built for everyday Kiwis

Gumboot is not trying to be flashy or complicated.

It is being built for normal people who need normal things done.

Someone might need help clearing out a garage before moving house. Someone else might be looking for a few hours of weekend work. A small business might need an extra hand for a delivery or event. A landlord might need a section tidied. A student might want flexible jobs around study.

These are the kinds of situations Gumboot is designed for.

Simple jobs. Local people. Clear communication. Less hassle.

Launching 1 July

Gumboot.app officially launches on 1 July.

The first version is focused on getting the core experience right: posting jobs, finding work, applying, accepting offers, messaging, and helping people connect safely and clearly.

From there, the goal is to keep improving based on how real users actually use it.

That means listening to job posters, workers, small businesses, tradies, students, homeowners, renters, and anyone else using Gumboot to get things done.

Why we are excited

There is a real need for something like this in New Zealand.

People want flexible ways to earn. People need help with everyday tasks. Local communities already have the demand and supply — Gumboot simply gives them a better place to meet.

It is practical. It is local. It is built for the kinds of jobs that often fall through the cracks.

And from 1 July, it will be live.
